PRODUCT TIP
Pressure switches protect the compressor by opening or closing a circuit based on the pressure being too high or too low.
Transducers, on the other hand, do the same thing in a much different way. Like switches, transducers know the pressure
in the system, but send the pressure reading by signal to a computer and lets the computer decide what to do.

TECH TIP
Trucks built after 2009 should be equipped with compressors that have a thermal fuse in the clutch coil. The fuse not only
prevents a slipping clutch from destroying the accessory drive belt, but also senses extreme heat to prevent the thermal fuse
from melting. With the circuit open, it will not allow the electrical current to flow to the clutch coil; therefore, it disengages
the clutch armature plate from the clutch pulley, allowing the clutch pulley to spin freely.
